Here's another one for the Smallbore competitors!

Welcome to the Wairarapa Secondary School Sports Smallbore competition, where the best shooters from all Wairarapa secondary schools will come together to showcase their skills.

This prestigious event will take place on the 3rd of September 2025 at the Martinborough Miniature Rifle Club. We invite all schools to bring their top shooters and compete in this exciting and challenging competition.

Get ready to witness some outstanding marksmanship and sportsmanship on display as these talented individuals aim for victory.

*Range opens 9.30

*Competition starts 10am

* finished by lunchtime / or 1 o'clock ish

*There are two grades, "off the rest", and "sling"

*There are teams of three. If a school can only field two shooters that's fine but that team obviously can't compete in the team competition.Schools can enter more than one team

*Individual highest scores are also competed for .

*Competitors must have reasonable experience shooting smallbore rifles at smallbore ranges as there is no capacity to coach the shooters at this event, and as it is a competition the shooters need to have an understanding of the procedures. As a guide shooters should have attended at least 5 shoots at one of the clubs

*Two ten shot cards are shot.

*Competitors bring their own drinks and snacks

*Competitors bring their own rifles and ammunition (note this is mostly supplied by the clubs the competitors are associated with (some shooters have their own gear) (the clubs organise this with the shooters individually as all the competitors are associated with either of the two clubs anyway)

*Clubs supply targets and helpers, however those bringing the shooters to the range may be asked to help in some minor capacity.

*The host club is responsible for range safety

*Both host clubs have ranges certified as required under the firearms safety legislation

*Those responsible for running the event will be licensed firearms holders, and have run many events like this.

Annual trophies will be presented at the end of round two and schools are responsible for engraving and returning the following year.

Medals supplied by Wairarapa Secondary School Sports to the winning team and top scorer in each team are presented.
