SECONDARY SCHOOL BASKETBALL​​​​​​​

                                                                     Term 2 and 3, 2026

Secondary School Basketball 2026 will be run out of three venues, Senior and Junior Boys (Year 9&10) will play alt weeks between Wairarapa College and Kuranui College gyms. Junior (Year 9&10) and Senior Girls will play out of Makoura College gym.

Start date will be Monday 4th May. It will be a 12 week comp with the term holidays breaking it down in between for all Boys Divisions and all Girls Divisions will start Monday 4th May and run for six weeks. Please note there will be no games played Kings Birthday Weekend Monday.

It is compolsory that every team has players that know how to ref and attend a course prior to the season start (Referees Course Date 24th April - see Development Opportunities tab for details)

Each team must have coach/manager - NO COACH/MANAGER  -  NO START

Games will start at 4:15pm with game times being to be playing 4 x 10 minute stop clock quarters with 2 minutes for quarter times, 5 minutes for half time, 2 x timeouts in the first half and 3 x timeouts in the second half.

PRIOR TO GAMES:

  • All players must check-in with the score table and be on a valid roster before they are allowed to play.
  • A player may only play for ONE team Eg Jimmy plays for Wai Col Tigers, he then can't play for the Wai Col Panthers.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS:

  • A regulation team consists of 5 players.
  • A team must start with 4 players present.
  • A team can play with 2 or 3 players only if others have been injured or have fouled out.

UNIFORMS:

Teams must wear numbered school singlets or t-shirts. Sports shoes must be worn when playing, NO SHOES - NO PLAY.

DEFAULTS:

  • A Default will be assessed when a team fails to be present with the required number of players at 10 minutes past a scheduled game time or for playing with an ineligible player. Please communicate any defaults As soon As possible by e-mailing WAISS Sport and the opposing school. If a team defaults three (3) games they will be removed from the competition.

$280 - Boys Teams

$220 - Girls Teams


DRAWS:

Draws will be sent out to schools each week Tuesday prior from WAISS Sport.
