Frequently Asked Questions

What age group should I play in?

Age restrictions are based on the age of the player on 31 December of the current year.

What Equipment do I need?

To start with, you just need a glove.  We recommend going to a specialist shop like The Dugout or The Fieldhouse and trying on different ones to see what works best for you.  Rebel Sport sell gloves but they're often more expensive.

U11, U12 and U13 players may choose to buy their own bat, or use team ones.  Ditto for catchers gear and batting helmets.  Cleats are optional at this age too.

From U15 upwards, players usually want to have their own gear, and bag to carry it all in.

What are the time commitments?

Set aside a couple of hours each Saturday morning for game day.  And allow for at least two training sessions a week in the afternoon/evenings.  Each team and coach will run things slightly different.

How long does the season run?

It changes slightly from year to year, but generally the softball season runs from Labour Weekend through to about Easter.  There is a break over Christmas.

How much does it cost?
