Financial Information

Payments

WHS operates a 'pay to play' system. This means costs soley cover entry.affiliation fees, transport, accommodation, uniforms and equipment. Some sports like rugby and netball have yearly subs, while others require one-off payments for individual events.

WHS has a strict 'no pay no play' policy and payment is due before a student can participate in weekly competitions or attend an event. WHS forms have a pay upfront system so that payment can be made upon completion of the relevant permission or registration form. Payments can be made via POLi (bank-to-bank transfer) or Debit/Credit card. Please note transaction fees apply. There is also a 'Pay Later' option for those accessing the Awhi support fund (see below), on a part-payment plan, or wanting to pay directly to the WHS bank account. Please contact Rosalind Box at [email protected] if you select this option and ensure you deposit funds into the Wakatipu High School bank account: 12-3234-0080772-00.

Refund Policy

WHS understands that life is very changeable for individuals and families and that plans can be easily disrupted for a multitude of reasons. However, WHS operates on a 'pay to play' basis to ensure all costs are covered prior to trip departure. If a student withdraws from an event the following terms apply:

If a trip is cancelled by WHS or the relevant sporting organisation a full refund will be provided (less any costs already incurred that are not refundable and transaction fees).

If a student cannot attend a trip due to other factors (including illness, injury, or other commitents) you are still liable for any costs already incurred, unless a replacement student can be found in time to cover these costs.

Refunds will be at the discretion of the Sports Department and depend on the cost and nature of the trip and reason for withdrawal. Please contact Rosalind Box via email; [email protected] for payment and refund enquiries.

Fundraising

Some sports fundraise to support their sport or reduce the costs to attend events.

Financial Support and Awhi Fund

We understand that on occasion families may need assistance in meeting the costs of various aspects of school life, including participation in sport.

WHS operates the Āwhina Fund, the Māori word for 'help'. This fund is designed to assist families cover the costs of almost any aspect of school life, such as uniform, 'BYOD' devices and extra-curricular trips.

The Āwhina Fund is supported by the WHS Foundation. Please note: Retrospective funding will not be considered.

We also encourage families to engage with our accounts team to develop part payment plans if that is more suitable to your situation to cover the cost of events, tournaments and subs. Please email Rosalind Box  at [email protected] to set up a part payment plan.
