Overview

Regular, weekly football is delivered by QAFC (Queenstown Associated Football Club) and all students who wish to play for competitive WHS teams are expected to play for the club. 

WHS has 1st and 2nd XI girls teams and 1st XI and Junior boys football teams.

The 1st XI teams also compete in exchanges and secondary school tournaments and national premier tournament qualifiers from time to time.

Futsal opportunities are run at the Events Centre in Term 3.

There are three different football pathways available at WHS; Performance, Development, and Participation. Details on these pathways are set out in the 2024 Football Programme and on the drop-downs below.

Season Details

All school football is played in Term 2 and 3 with a selection process for the 1st XI teams.

The Girls teams compete in the Central Otago Secondary School Football competition.

The 1st XI Boys and Girls and Junior Boys teams compete in two winter exchanges with the 1st XI's also competing at a South Island Secondary School Tournament.

For Club football, pre-season begins in Term 1 with Saturday and Sunday Central Otago League for all club teams in Term 2.

  • 2023: WHS Girls 1st XI win Central Otago Secondary School Competition.
  • 2022 & 2023: Madi McLean selected in Southern United U18 Women's Football team.
