Footwear

Player safety is our priority.

All players must wear appropriate sports shoes while participating in any Wānaka Touch activity, including trials, trainings and games.

Bare feet are not permitted under any circumstances.

Touch boots with plastic cleats are the best option for playing touch, but all types of trainers can be worn.  If wearing football boots, metal studs must not exceed 13mm in length and must be in good condition.

Referees will complete a footwear check before games and reserve the right to ask any player to leave the field until appropriate footwear is worn.

Please help us keep everyone safe by ensuring your child arrives with suitable footwear each week.

Uniform

Players are expected to wear the correct playing uniform for their team.

Years 3 and 4

  • Appropriate sports clothing and trainers

Years 5–8

  • Wānaka Touch will provide numbered bibs for all teams.
  • Players should wear suitable sports clothing underneath.
  • Teams are welcome to provide their own numbered playing shirts

Years 9+ MAC Teams

  • Teams may wear their own team or school playing shirts where appropriate.
  • As player numbers are required for refereeing, teams will also be provided with numbered bibs where necessary.

Note: Players in Years 7–8 must not wear their MAC school sports tops, as they are representing Wānaka Touch, not their school.
