Students wishing to apply for the academy will need to be motivated and self-reliant young men. Students do not need to have been a part of the Academy of Sport in previous years. Applications can be found here. All applications will be considered. 


Course Outline 
The senior Academy caters for first team (or aspiring first team) athletes who are young men motivated and passionate about their chosen sport(s). Students who gain entry into the senior academy (Tier 1) will be given guidance in the following areas: 

  • key training methods and techniques
  • programme development for youth Athletes
  • nutritional needs of young Athletes
  • effective leadership in coaching
  • self-management through understanding social responsibility in high-performance groups. 


Assessment

This Course is designed to encourage students to develop independence and leadership in sport. Two assessment are written and two practical. The standards will all be internally assessed with a total of 16 credits possible at Level 2 NCEA.
