Season Starts

The first game of the season will be held on:

  • 1XI & 2XI – 1st May, Friday
  • 3XI & 4XI – 7th May, Thursday
  • Juniors – 6th May, Wednesday


Season Format for WC Hockey Teams

The format for the 2026 season is yet to be confirmed. Here is an example of what you can expect based on the format from previous years:

Wellington College Hockey Club enters teams in the Wellington Secondary School Competition.  The Wellington Competition comprises 5-6 grades (Premier 1-3 and Reserve 1-3) and we aim to have a team in every grade. The playing and practice nights for WC teams are as follows:

Winter Tournament Week (during Term 3)
Each year we aim to have 2 competitive teams travel to a Winter Tournament. This is reviewed on an annual basis.

All WC sports team travel is self-funding however this should not deter any player from trialling. If you have any financial concerns please see Dave Keat, Director of Sport.

Under 15 Team
The U15 fixture team competes in the Miskimmin Cup, the traditional against Palmerston North Boys' High School and New Plymouth Boys High School and Tanner Cup.

  • Monday 23rd March on NHS 1 at 5pm.

  • Wednesday 25th March at 7am on NHS 1
