Coach Requirements

Of course coaches are expected to always be at practices, and always arrive before the players on game days.  It is up to the coach and their team to choose what day(s) you wish to practice.

  • Positively reinforce the actions of the players
  • Lead by example
  • Be honest with yourself and players
  • Create an enjoyable environment in which to play the game
  • Develop team respect for umpires, opposition and supporters
  • Give all players the opportunity to participate in the game equally
  • Insist on fair play and discipline
  • Be reasonable on the demand on players time, energy and enthusiasm

Manager Requirements

Managers are required to support the coaches, by turning up on time for practices and on game days.  You may be required to take a practice session if the coach is unavailable for a valid reason.

  • Remind players closer to game day what time they need to be there, and where to meet
  • It is the managers responsibility to look after the gear bags with all the equipment, (practice balls, game ball, ball pump, bibs, nail scissors and first aid kit)
  • Organise the player of the day, and make sure everyone gets a fair turn.
  • Keep records for the team such as: who the opposition team was, score of the game, who has stood down, who played in which position, and who was player of the day.
  • Ensure all players get a fair amount of on court time.
  • Contact the players to let them know if the practice or game has been cancelled.
  • Organise with other coaches when a player is required to fill in for your team. (Remember you can only ask a player from the grades below your team, not from a team above your grade)
  • Organise who is to be doing what from your team on our club duty days. (The committee will assign each team with a task for our duty day)
