Parents/Spectators Code of Conduct

  • LEAD BY EXAMPLE
  • Encourage and support, remembering that children participate for their enjoyment NOT yours.
  • Focus on player confidence and skill development, winning is not everything.
  • Applaud good play from both teams.
  • Teach children that their efforts on the court are as important as victory, so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
  • Encourage children to play by the rules and respect the umpire’s decision.
  • Encourage children’s risk taking and making mistakes, this is how we learn and develop.
  • Recognise and value the importance of coaches and managers as volunteers who give up their time and resources to provide our children with netball.
  • Recognise and value the importance of our Netball Club’s committee members as volunteers who give up their time and resources to provide our community with opportunities for Netball.
  • Sideline verbal and/or physical abuse will not be tolerated.  You may be asked to leave and your behaviour referred to our complaints process.
  • Never ridicule or shout at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
  • Leave the sideline coaching to our coaches.  You may not always personally agree with their decisions but being openly disrespectful towards our volunteers will not be tolerated.
  • If you disagree with an official, raise your concerns via the appropriate channels with your team coach and/or manager and do not question the officials judgment personally.
  • If you have a concern regarding your child and you feel unable to discuss this with your coach and/or manager please contact our club committee in confidence, by email – [email protected]
  • Complaints that are made to the committee will be kept confidential and the complainant may remain anonymous if required.  Mediation by Netball Rodney Centre may be applied in some situations.
  • Respect the rights and dignity of others!
