Race Officer ( RO ) Duties



On Race day the RO will arrange/organize either themselves or co-opt other members to

  1. Open the Locker room and do visual check of room contents

  2. Take required items for the days events and lock the locker room

  3. Take rescue boat with oars , life jacket, outboard to the pontoon edge

  4. As RO you have the option of setting the course either yourself in the rescue boat or co-opt a member to either follow your mark layout or you can co-opt the total course layout.

  5. Once course layout is final, the RO controls the start of each heat, it is up to each RO if they wish to compete as well, but priority is on controlling the starts.

  6. At the end of the days sailing ensure all items removed are returned to the locker room , making club officers aware of any unsafe equipment and the battery level on the electric outboard.

The nominated RO for the day, if they are unable to attend, it is their responsibility to contact another member to stand in for them, or contact club secretary.


Each club member has been assigned at least one Race day as Race Officer.
