West Melton Netball Club

Parents and Supporters Code of Conduct

This document is for the benefit of all parents and supporters who are part of the West Melton Netball Club.  Its purpose is to ensure all parents and supporters are aware of their responsibility to the club and all team members involved.

At registration all players will be asked to sign that they have read, understood and agree to a Player Code of Conduct.  For players under the age of 16, we will ask that a parent, guardian or caregiver sign as well.

Parent and supporter responsibilities:
Always show positive encouragement and support all members and players of West Melton Netball Club:

  • Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
  • Encourage your children to participate, do not force them.
  • Focus on your child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
  • Encourage children to play according to the rules.
  • Never ridicule or yell at a child, team mate or opposition for making a mistake or losing a game.
  • Remember children learn by example.
  • Appreciate good performances and skilful plays by all participants.
  • Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
  • Respect all official decisions and teach children to do the same.
  • Show appreciation to all volunteers - coaches, officials and administrators.  Without them your children could not participate.
  • Repect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person, regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  • Do not interfere with the progress and/or conduct of the game.
  • Assist in fundraising, umpiring, scoring, time keeping and shop duties if and when required.
  • Get your child to trainings and games at the correct time.
  • Advise in a timely manner if your child cannot attend trainings or a game.
