Baseball is a team sport and every player will get their fair share of game time. Success will always be measured by what we accomplish together. Each at bat will be taken, and pitch made, with the team in mind. We never put individual accomplishments ahead of the team.

We are RESPECTFUL...

We respect our teammates and coaches because we are all in this together. We respect our opponents and understand that, just like us, they will be doing their best to win the game. We respect the rules and understand that umpires make mistakes too.

We ALWAYS HUSTLE...

We always hustle on and off the field – we set the tempo. We are aggressive but smart on the bases. Nothing will come easy for our opponents – they will need to play their best to beat us.

We are AWARE...

We know the game situation – the score, innings, count, and number of outs. We know what we’ll do with the ball if it comes to us. We understand our role and take responsibility for it.

We NEVER GIVE UP...

Baseball is a difficult game to master. We all make mistakes - these are an opportunity to learn and grow. It can also be an emotional game. When the going gets tough, we pick each other up and pull together as a team. When we succeed, we do it with class.

The Pirates whānau is about ‘having fun playing baseball with our friends.’ While we love the game – we always remember it’s just that: A GAME!
