Netball Whakatane Centre will hold netball games during Level 1 & 2. There will be no refunds after 3 weeks of play if your team decides to pull out due to Level 2 as we have the protocols in place to continue with our competition. Any competitions/grades that are affected by an Alert Level change will be communicated to.
As per Ministry guidelines, you can do your usual exercise and recreation activities if you can do them safely. Professional leagues can go ahead at Alert Level 2 because they take place in controlled workplaces
As per Ministry guidelines, the person organising (Netball Whakatane Centre) the gathering legally must record attendees to make sure contact tracing can happen if needed. At a social gathering, you do not need to do this if every person at the gathering knows each other. To play it safe, keep records even if everyone knows each other.
Community sports are limited to groups of 100 in a defined space. Umpires, officials and other workers providing services to a sports game are not included in the 100 people. A sports complex can have multiple defined spaces by keeping:
We recommend groups be prevented from intermingling or sharing common facilities at the same time.
For example, games of netball can occur so long as there are no more than 100 people on the area/bubble. Up to 100 people can gather outside of the complex if they are kept separate from those players and umpires inside the complex. Organisers and the person in control of the premises are responsible for collecting contact tracing information.
If we go into Level 2 here is a quick video on how to enter and exit the Centre and how to conduct games to keep everyone safe. A big mihi to our tino ataahua Trident High School girls and their Coach Te Ahuru Waititi for making this video to help show us protocols for Alert Level 2 playing :)
All the current documentation relating to the return to netball under Covid Levels are available on this page to view. This information is mainly for if we go into Level 2 as we will continue to play. Please note we will not play during Levels 3 & 4.
