Northland Rangatahi Softball Activation Programme

The Northland Rangatahi Softball Activation Programme is a WGSA initiative created to introduce more rangatahi across Northland to softball.

Through school-based sessions, students will learn the fundamentals of the game, including throwing, catching, batting, fielding, teamwork and game awareness. The programme provides a welcoming environment where rangatahi can participate, build confidence and stay active—regardless of their previous softball experience.

The programme will conclude with the:

Northland Rangatahi Schools Softball Tournament

• Date: Tuesday 17th November 2026
• Venue: Onerahi Sports Park, Whangarei
• Year levels: Years 7–11
• Format: One-day schools tournament
• Experience: Beginners and experienced players welcome

Schools may enter teams involving students from Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. Further information about team numbers, grades, playing rules, equipment and registrations will be provided to participating schools.

The day will focus on participation, positive behaviour, teamwork, school pride and growing the game of softball throughout Northland.
