Tamaki-makau-rau Poi Tarawhiti is again about to kick into planning and preparation of the build up to compete in the annual Aotearoa Maori Netball Oranga Healthy Lifestyle Tournament.

Easter 2020 will be the 33rd
National Maori Tournament hosted by Te Tai Tokerau, Whangarei.

Teams for all age groups have been selected, with trainings and preparations on the way.

Maori netball is more than just the game there is a kaupapa, tikanga and whakapapa behind the tournament and we feel it is as significant for players to understand these aspects as well as the fitness and skills required to play in our prestigious tournament.

Whanaungatanga is fundamental to the operation of our rohe, therefore during the build up Tamaki members will participate in a WHANAUNGATANGA Day , held in Orakei as a meet and greet with their coaches, managers, executive committee and all other players.

As Maori netball is based on Oranga – Healthy Lifestyle, wananga is an opportunity for our rohe to engage health providers to share their healthy messages with our Rangatahi.

A prime objective is to deliver to players the message of the importance regarding nutrition, health and fitness and "Auahi Kore" (smoke free).
