Senior Hawks

Swimmers normally progress into this squad from Junior Hawks, though swimmers of suitable ability can move directly into this squad from other clubs and swim schools. The focus of this squad is developmentof Race Skills and ensuring they have the required fitness and stamina to compete at a regional and achieve National Qualification times. ‘Senior’ refers to swimming ability not age. Over time in this squad swimmers will be taught:

  • Further Stroke Technique
  • Further Racing Tumble Turn Skills
  • Further Racing Open Turn Skills
  • Advanced Individual Medley Skills
  • Advanced Race Pace Training Skills​​​​​​​

Entry Criteria

  • Must be considered suitably advanced (as assessed by Aquahawks coaches) in all four strokes and all racing turns.
  • Must be able to confidently swim 1500m continuously in legal Freestyle,  confidently swim 200m continuously in legal Backstroke and Breaststroke and confidently swim 100m continuously in legal Butterfly.

Competitions

Swimmers must attend Monthly Club Nights, take part in the Annual Club Championships by swimming all races as they qualify for and ideally should take part in other local, regional or national championships.
