BEST KIWI COMBINATIONS TO CHALLENGE AT SYDNEY CDI***

Six combinations are headed to Sydney CDI*** which kicks off at SIEC, the Horsley Park venue for the 2000 Olympic Games,   on Wednesday 27 April with the first horse inspection. Our two Grand Prix Champions, Vanessa Way (Taranaki)  with KH Arvan and Penny Castle on David & Julie Brougham’s Gymstar One (Palmerston North) will contest the Grand Prix level – the two main stays of the Australian camp, Rachel Sanna & Brett Parbery will be making their first Australian appearance since 2010 WEG so undoubtedly there will be some avid anticipation with 29 Grand Prix entries in total – with just 15 to make the cut into the Special & the Freestyle ! Cambridge ’s Amanda Berridge will compete in the small tour with Volte SL – these two have been super consistent at this level during the season so it will be a fantastic experience for Amanda who then plans to stay on in Australia to train with Caroline Twomey. Just seven young riders will contest the CDIY for the under 21’s and three of them are from NZL. South Island Advanced Champion, Catherine Tobin and Riverndell Romeo from the Wellington region are already based with their trainer Bennett Conn in Queensland and will make the trip down to Sydney from there. Meanwhile,  archrivals Kelly van Dyk with Wolkhan and Kate Welten with Amajah fly across the Tasman on the 18th to also make their bids for a place at the FEI Young Rider World Cup in Germany later this year.  Keep up with all the lead up news and live scoring during the event at  CLICK HERE . Dressage NZ thanks the Lion Foundation for their support of this tour

DRESSAGE RIDERS SELECTED FOR ESNZ HIGH PERFORMANCE SQUAD

The new depth of performance in the dressage discipline  has been recognised with the selection of three combinations to the 2014 ESNZ High Performance B Squad. Sarah Harris, High Performance Director, said in a recent press release - “ We've flagged our three dressage combinations as 2014 World Games potentials but they could step up and get to London . They need to be in the top 30 in the world to make the grade,” says Harris. Criteria had been tough, and the high performance management challenged all disciplines in an effort to ensure anyone named on a squad was there for good reason. “It will bode well for the future that we've been this tough. They've all stepped up though, and it's an exciting time that we have performance pathways like this through to major events.”
