14th September saw Invercargill’s All Saints accept an invitation to play Badminton with the DBC.
John M. organised a Women’s 10 person Yankee Doubles draw as it would suit the number best. They played five rounds with each player having one round as a bye. Something new for us, and a great way to organise games when the numbers are uneven.
The Men played straight doubles, and there was a short Mixed doubles games, with some interesting warm up activities, involving brown stubby bottles to get those players geared up.
There was a social hour upstairs at the end of a hard day’s play, some drinks and finger food, and presentation and speeches.
In summary it was unanimous that we should put this day in next year’s calendar, as everyone had a great day.
A social function at the Kensington Tavern for dinner was well attended, some good photos to support the evening.
Apparently there were further events as the night wore on but a strict “what happens on tour stays on tour” policy was adhered to, and no photos emerged.
