Wayne opened with a speech around how much the club has grown and how well DBC is doing, Diane replied and thanked Wayne for all his efforts (agreed, thanks Wayne!!).
Two interesting little trophies were awarded:
"The 'F' Word" - Michelle
And I forget the exact title, but Wayne S. was awarded a trophy for flying racquets.
Women's Singles: Rebecca
Men's Singles: Arman
Men's Doubles: Robert and Glenn
Women's Doubles: Diane and Rebecca
Mixed Doubles: Arman and Jeni
Two new awards, thanks to Glenn for the fantastic plaques:
DBC Most Improved Player: Robyn
DBC Club Spirit: Michelle
Finally, Robert gave a great speech to thank Wayne for all his hard work and presented him with a bottle of wine. For once, Wayne didn't have much to say!!

Two more weeks of club left and what a fantastic way to celebrate such a sucessful year.
Thank you to all members!!

Saturday 11th August

The mixed doubles was a successful event, hugely contested and enjoyed by all. So, in two weeks (25th August) DBC is running a doubles tournament as well as optional singles for those who wish to play. An email has gone out to club members, but this event is open for all at $5 each. Starting at 1pm, partners will be drawn from a hat and teams set 21st, so no entries will be accepted after that date.
The $5 covers both doubles and singles, great value!!
Finishing roughly 4pm with afternoon tea upstairs to follow.

Finally, anyone looking to buy shuttles at a lower cost, watch this space! Sue will be updating soon about Yonex shuttles we will be selling through the club,
Sunday 3rd June 2012

We trialed Saturday morning yesterday as an extra club day and it was great! Good games and the chance to mingle with some from the Twenty club. So, from 10.30am-12.30pm we will be running games down at the halls.
Court bookings are dependent on however many show up. Courts are also subject to change due to OBA events, but these will be announced well in advance to avoid any confusion.
$5 ($8 non-DBC members) for 2hours of badminton isn't bad! Hopefully see you there!
