Hinemoa Amateur Athletics Club
Code of Conduct :
Youth Athletes.
We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in athletics. Hinemoa Amateur Athletics Club wants to ensure athletics can be enjoyed in a safe, positive environment.
As an athlete, you have a big part to play. That’s why the Hinemoa Amateur Athletics Club is asking every player to follow a Code of Conduct.
When training and competing in athletics, I will:
• Respect my fellow athletes, the officials or my coach /manager
• Always train and compete to the best of my ability
• Never put any other athlete in danger by playing with athletic equipment
• Play fairly – I won’t cheat, complain or waste time
• Never bully, strike or fight with another player
• Never throw acorns at another athlete
• Play by the rules, as directed by the Official’s. If I disagree with a decision I will inform the coach or manager during a break or after the competition
• Listen and respond to what my coach/official tells me
• Talk to someone I trust if I am unhappy about anything at my club
• Control my temper. I understand that verbal abuse of officials and other athletes or deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted behaviour in any sport
• Be a good sport and applaud all good performances when they are made by fellow athletes
• Treat all players in my sport as I like to be treated
• Display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat
• Participate for my own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches
• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion
I understand that if I do not follow the Code of Conduct, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club
I may be:
· Be required to apologise to my fellow athletes, Official’s or team manager
· Receive a formal warning from the club committee
· Be suspended from training
· Be required to leave the club
In addition:
· My club may make my parent or carer aware of any infringements of the Code of Conduct.
· Parents have a responsibility to ensure their children follow the code of conduct.
