Ribbon Days
Ribbon Days are held throughout the season and hosted by different clubs around the Waikato / Bay of Plenty.
For those families who are new to athletics, we strongly encourage you to attend Ribbon Days when you can. Ribbon Days are participation based and a huge amount of fun for kids up to 14 years of age. You do not need to register - just turn up and compete in what you want. There’s lots of ribbons up for grabs and events are typically structured so every child earns at least one ribbon (although it can’t be guaranteed).
They are a great experience for the kids, learning the rhythm and feel of a competition day. It’s great practice for the more structured competitions like the WBOP Children’s Champs and the Colgate Games.
Ribbon days are also FREE so please come along and join in the fun! They are a great way to meet new friends, build on skills and technique, and compete against other athletes.
A morning programme runs for Mini Club, and a full-day programme runs for athletes 7-14 yrs.
