Theory sessions
Understanding 6v6 netball
This is an online workshop that introduces you to the 6v6 game of netball which is played by year 5 and 6 teams. This workshop covers:
- The philosophy of ANZ futureFERNS
- The differences in rules between the 6v6 and 7-aside
- Tips for umpiring
- Who can umpire these games at Howick Pakuranga Netball Centre
In addition, there will be the opportunity for questions and answers.
Target audience: umpires, coaches, managers, parents, and caregivers wanting to understand the 6v6 netball game.
Cost: Free

Required numbers: A minimum of 10 is required for this workshop to proceed. If minimum numbers are not met then the workshop will not proceed. In this situation, another session will be scheduled and you will receive an invite to register for that session.
Rules introduction: 7-aside netball
This is an online workshop that introduces you to the 7-aside game of netball which is played from year 7 onwards. This workshop covers:
- An overview of the rules of netball covering
- Types of sanctions
- Centre pass
- Out of court
- Throw in
- Playing the ball
- Footwork
- Offside
- Scoring a goal
- Contact
- Obstruction
- Hand signals
- Tips for umpiring
- Who can umpire these games at Howick Pakuranga Netball Centre
In addition, there will be the opportunity for questions and answers.
Target audience: umpires, coaches, managers, parents, and caregivers wanting an introduction to rules for the 7-aside netball game.

Umpiring in schools
Our umpire facilitators and coaches are volunteers, many of whom have full-time work commitments. While we endeavour to provide services to our local schools this is done by mutual agreement with our volunteers. Please contact umpire@hpnc.org.nz detailing your requirements and any time restrictions.

Umpires with their Zone Theory can work towards their Zone Practical.
