Kimura Shukokai New Zealand

In the KSI New Zealand grading structure the next grade after 1st kyu Brown belt, is "Shodan ho". All members must grade to "Shodan ho" before attempting to grade to Shodan.

Dan Gradings for Shodan ho, Shodan & Nidan (1st & 2nd Dan) can only be attempted following completion of a pre dan assesment and a subsequent written recomendation from the Chief Instructor KSI New Zealand.
Shodan ho & Shodan grades may be awarded in New Zealand by a grading panel including the KSI New Zealand Chief Instructor & Chairman.
Grades above Shodan must be awarded by one of the KSI Joint World Chief Instructors.
Grading to Sandan (3rd Dan) and above is by invitation only from one of the World Chief Instructors and requires permission from the Chief Instructor KSI NZ to attend.
