KSI New Zealand members have competed in Karate New Zealand events since 2007 and have achieved pleasing results at the New Zealand Open, Canterbury/Westland Tournament, the Karate New Zealand National Championships, and the Sugihara CuP.
The KNZ Nationals in Wellington is a great tournament and the next step up from the Canterbury/Westland Tournament.
Members have won medals at National and International Karate New Zealand all styles events and have won medals at the KSI World Tournament.
Since 2004 members have traveled to the KSI World Tournaments in Finland 2006, Switzerland 2008, Atlantic City, USA in 2012, Sun City, South Africa in 2014, Berlin 2016 & Stockholm 2018, South Africa 2023, Finland 2025.
Tournaments are viewed as the fun part of our karate i.e. we do the hard and serious work at training in the dojo and go to tournaments to do our best, have fun and meet fellow karate-ka. Bad sportsmanship, gamesmanship or any other poor etiquette is not tolerated at any time, we have a simple rule - 'Go to your line and keep quiet!'
