Kimura Shukokai New Zealand

National KSI gashukus are held three times a year and are often combined with senior kyu gradings.

In 2009 we hosted Senseis Jari, 6th Dan & Sensei Jaana from KSI Finland.

In 2015 & 2017 we were honoured to host Shihan Lionel Marinus, 9th Dan, World Joint Chief Instructor of Kimura Shukokai International and Sensei Al Bischoff 7th Dan.

Senior grades have also travelled to the KSI World Chief Instructors gashuku in New York.

KSI NZ members have also attended Karate New Zealand numerous training camps.

Gashukus, be they National, Regional, or International are central to building ourselves as good citizens and karate-ka - the intense nature of the training, the exposure to top instructors, being immersed in the environment and of course the chance to meet new people and build new friendships make these an invaluable part of training and always worth the effort of getting to far flung destinations like Melbourne, New York, Helsinki & Switzerland!
