Learning Support

We are privileged to have a dedicated team of teachers and teacher aides in our Learnin Support Department to ensure that students who required specific support have their needs met in an appropriate and effective manner. Whether it is difficulty with reading and writing, to more special education needs our team will collaborate with all areas of the school and external resources to facilitate effective support. This can range from special assessment conditions for exams to intensive teacher aide support in class, and for some students, just occasional check-ins.

During the enrolment process, parents should indicate any learning needs so our team can put an appropriate plan in place, which could include facilitating a transition programme from Primary to Secondary School.

Students with specific Ministry of Education funding, including Ongoing Resourcing (ORS) participate as much as is possible and practical within mainstream classes and school activities as they are an integral part of our close-knit school community.

We have a base Hub which is a homeroom for some classes and this is also available in breaks should the students choose to use it. We also have a sensory space which some students who are struggling find calming and quiet.

Parents and students can discuss concerns with their mentor teacher who will then seek assistance from the Learning Support team, or parents can contact the team leader, Dinesh Dayal [email protected]

We liaise closely with the Ministry of Education learning and behaviour specialists, RTLB and other external providers and initiatives as required.
