The Bowling Season runs from 1st July to 30th June with no outside play during the winter months.

Whether your passion is competitive or social bowling there is a place for you within our club.

We have various social get-togethers throughout the year with regular Friday night social evenings on the 1st and 3rd week during the winter months starting at 5 p.m.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP​​​​​​​

Full Playing Members and Student Members are eligible for club championship matches, club representative teams, plus all open tournaments held by our club or our sister clubs and to be nominated for the area development squads. They can hold office in the Club and speak and vote at all General Meetings.                                                        

Limited Playing Members are entitled to play in approved bowls events within the boundary of the physical club.  They are entitled to hold office and can speak and vote at General Meetings.

Leisure Members are eligible to play on Monday evenings.

Non Playing members are entitled to hold office in the Club and speak with the approval of the Chairperson but not vote at General Meetings.

All members can participate in Leisure Bowls on Monday evenings.

TRIAL PERIOD

For anyone thinking of joining the club there is an optional free trial period of 1 month, after which you are most welcome to join us, or feel free to leave.


RESPONSIBILITIES

There are some shared responsibilities within the club that are part of membership.                                                                                          We have no paid employees and this means that catering, cleaning, afternoon teas on roll up days and maintenance are carried out by the club members.                                                                                                                                                                                                       These tasks are done by those of us who are fit enough and are not too onerous because of the willingness and enthusiasm of members. Working bees are always well supported.


DRESS CODE

All bowlers must wear heel-less shoes.                                                                                                                                                             Mufti is allowed for roll-ups on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.                                                                                                             Club shirts are worn for Club Championships.                                                                                                                                                      Club uniform is worn for tournaments and inter-club matches.                                                                                                                             Club shirts can be bought from suppliers - please ask the secretary.


PLEASE NOTE

Please be considerate of the Greenkeeper who may on occasions direct players away from rinks that are considered to be in need of rest, and may also declare the green closed if considered necessary. 


MAPUA BOWLING CLUB - PERSONAL INFORMATION PRIVACY STATEMENT

We collect information from club members such as name and address, phone numbers and email addresses. We also take photographs. We will from time to time ask everyone to check and update their information.

We collect this information so we can keep the data base of our club up to date, and we also use this information to supply club members with updates and information throughout the year. Hard copies of the 'Write Bias' along with minutes from club committee meetings are kept at the clubhouse.

We supply our database to Bowls Nelson and Centre Bowls NZ as part of our fee capitation. Our club, Bowls Nelson and Centre Bowls NZ are asked as part of our sponsorship conditions to supply our data base.

We publish photographs in our Write Bias, our website, our Facebook and publish them in the local newspapers from time to time.

We keep your information stored in a filing cabinet at the club house and in the database. The club president, secretary, treasurer and publicity officer have access to this.

Providing some information is optional. If you do not wish to supply some information or do not want photographs published please inform the privacy Officer, our secretary.

We Keep your information until you leave the club.

You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information and ask for it to be corrected if you feel it is wrong. Please ask the secretary to access this for you.
