Saturday Afternoon Netball (Year 9+)

Methven Netball holds open trials for anyone who would like to play for the club and welcomes new and returning players. We are a friendly country club that draws from the wider Methven area and further afield.

Teams in Senior Netball play their netball in EA Networks Centre on Saturday afternoons, as part of the Mid Canterbury Netball competition.  Our teams will all be schoolgirls, though they may meet teams of adults.

Registration

  • Senior players are required to register online before trialing for selection, this helps us to get organised ahead of time.

Trials

  • We will hold 2 (maybe 3) different trials. Please click here to view trial dates.
  • School girls who have played at Premier level can register to trial for Premier again. Other players may be invited to trial up at Premier, either before trials start or as trials progress.
  • If anyone is trialing for another club as well, please let us know.
  • For a more detailed explanation of the selection process.

Practices

  • Practices are normally held later on Thursday afternoons, however that may depend on court availability and depending on what suits the Coach and the majority of players. We aim to have another team at a similar level practicing at the same time so they can have a practice game. Practice will be about an hour and a half.
  • Players are expected to attend all practices (within reason) and games.  Showing respect to their coach and teammates.
  • Players are also expected to work on their fitness on their own or with buddies.

Other information

  • Subs are expected to be paid before competition commences.
  • Uniforms are supplied at no extra cost.
  • Players in the top afternoon level will be required to umpire other games on Saturday afternoons netball.
  • While we encourage schoolgirl players to compete in this grade, we will consider entry into Social teams for different individual circumstances.
  • Our club prides itself on maintaining a high level of sportsmanship and fair play and we require players to maintain these standards and represent the Club well both on the court and off.
  • Players also must abide by Mid Canterbury’s Codes of Conduct.
  • For more information on the way that Mid Canterbury Netball runs the season please see their Competition Policy.
