The Colgate Games are a fantastic event within Childrens Athletics. It was run by New Zealand Childrens Athletic Assocation for over 40 years and more recently Athletics New Zealand. It is a great opportunity for athletes to try their skills against other athletes throughout the North Island and often from the South Island as well. It rotates throughout the North Island, with all centres hosting the competition.

The Colgate Games are available for athletes 7 -14 years and they are allowed to compete in up to any five events. The events athletes are allowed to compete in are -

60m                              Long Jump
100m                            Shot Put
200m                            Discus
Plus Relays

This age group runs in divisions, with each division earning pennants for first,second and third. All athletes recieve a ribbon as well. The fields are smaller and allows greater participation. A great introduction into Colgate Games for athletes.

10 - 14 YEARS

1500m                          Walks
Plus relays - 4 x 100m and medley relays

This age groups run as per senior competition. They run heats, semi finals and finals then the top three placings in the age group are presented with medals. All finalists recieve a finalist ribbon too, the top 8 places in each event.
