Golden Edge Nelson Rowing Club

Nelson Rowing Club (NRC) is proud to be celebrating its 145th year in 2021.  Members of the Nelson Rowing Club continue to represent New Zealand with pride and include Halberg Supreme Award winners, World Champions and Olympians.  International rowing has been disrupted over the past 18 months due to Covid but the club was proud to have Brook Robertson wear the Silver Fern and represent his country at the recent Tokyo Olumpics.

The 2020/2021 season was very successful for the Club.  Although Covid continued to cause havoc with the cancellation of South Island Secondary Schools and a reduced program at NZ Nationals, our rowers stood on the podium at South Island Club Champs, NZ Nationals and at Maadi Cup to finish the season on a high.  The past 18 months have been difficult for our competitive Masters rowers with the cancellation of South Island Masters and NZ Masters in 2020 due to Covid and the Ashburton floods ending the hopes of South Island Masters being held in 2021.  We have our collective fingers crossed for NZ Masters going ahead in Twizel this year.  If you're interested in learning to row as a Master (aged 27 years and above) have a look at our Masters Rowing page for more iformation.

Nelson Rowing Club is recognised as being one of NZ's top performing clubs.  We do enjoy winning but it isn't the only thing we do.  NRC’s members include Novice, Competitive and Masters Rowers with our members coming from both the Nelson and Tasman regions. The club caters to all ages and levels of rowers in a sport which promotes a healthy lifestyle, strong work ethic and discipline.  Our Clubrooms are on Cross Quay, Port Nelson where we've been located for over 25 years.  Our earlier home was the historic "Boathouse" on Rocks Road.

Our rowers are looking forward to getting back on the water for the 2021/2022 season and welcome new rowers and members to our Club.

A huge thank you to Nelson Pine Industries for their ongoing support of the Club.  Nelson Pine Golden Edge has been our main sponsor since 1989 - that's over 30 years of constant, unwavering support, and we appreciate it hugely.

And many thanks to Karmyn Ingram for the great pics of our rowers competing at South Island and national regattas.  See more of Karmyn's photos here on fb.
