ROWING EQUIPMENT AND SAFETY

Nelson Rowing Club equipment is shared by the school rowers, club rowers, masters and corporate rowers.

Rowing equipment is extremely expensive and quite fragile, therefore at NRC we encourage a strong culture of respect for all our equipment and everybody using it.

Rowers are fully instructed on how to handle all equipment and who to listen to when getting on and off the water. This becomes a core discipline that is required as part of the sport of rowing.

A book is signed upon getting on/off the water, this has a safety check list and accounts for all crew members.

The coach travels alongside in a small speed boat and carries flotation devices, a bailer, whistle and VHF radio.
