Referee Abuse
Referee Abuse TouchNZ National Policy
At Nelson Touch we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants in touch rugby. We believe that every player, coach, official, and spectator deserves to engage in the sport free from any form of abuse or harassment. Our mission is to uphold the highest standards of conduct and integrity, ensuring that touch rugby remains a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone.
We pledge to:
Promote Respect: Encourage mutual respect among all participants, regardless of their role or background.
Ensure Safety: Implement and enforce strict policies to protect individuals from physical, emotional, and verbal abuse.
Zero Tolerance: A zero-tolerance policy is a strong approach to addressing abuse. It means that any form of abuse, whether physical, emotional, or verbal, will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Support Victims: Offer robust support systems for those affected by abuse, ensuring they receive the care and assistance they need.
Foster Accountability: Hold individuals accountable for their actions through transparent and fair disciplinary processes.
Together, we can create a touch rugby community where everyone feels valued, respected, and safe. This can help create a safer and more respectful environment.
Join the team that always wins: Referees
If you've enjoyed Touch over the years, whether you realise it or not, part of why is because a referee kept the opposition onside, kept the count and kept the score. Touch doesn't work without refs and we need more refs to keep the our competitions strong, improve the quality and ensure we enjoy playing Touch now and in the future.
We will train you and get you comfortable with the rules before your first game. You are paid per game or can put it to your teams fees. Hit the button to register and we'll let you know about our next training.
