Outcome of Special General Meeting

A Special General Meeting was held Wednesday, November 7th where the two resolutions put to Members were voted upon and approved. This means that the club is seeking formal approval from Cycling NZ to change its name to Auckland Schools Cycling Inc. and the constitution of the club will be changed to reflect the new focus on organising competitive cycling events for school-aged riders.

You may be wondering what the impact of these changes are on club membership for 2019, particularly for current Members who are not of school age. The committee will be meeting to discuss this in the next few days and will then publish some comments / recommendations for Members. Our suggestion is that you delay renewing your club licence in the meantime.

During the meeting, some Members volunteered to help get the Tuesday Crits running, and we will try to get them started as soon as possible. We will provide further updates on this shortly.  If you wish to get involved in the running of the Crits, please get in touch via our website

A. The new name would take effect after 2019 Club Nationals, the constitution would change straight away.

A. Cycling NZ Auckland are aware of the proposal and are supportive of it

Q. Will I still be able to attend the NHCC Criterium racing as an adult?

A. Yes

Q. What is the status of this year’s summer Criterium racing?

A. It is on hold until such time as sufficient people are identified who can fill the roles required to organise and run this series safely.  An update will be provided at the Special General Meeting.

Q. Would school age members of ACCC and CMC have to join the new club?

A. No, it is proposed that they will be registered under the CNZ schools license scheme

Q. If the club is for school age riders what happens when I turn 20 - do i have to leave?

A. No but there will be more suitable clubs for you eg Counties Manukau or Auckland Central

Q. I am an NHCC adult cyclist.  When I renew my licence for 2019, which I can do now, what club do I join?

A. We suggest you wait until the outcome of Special General Meeting is clear.   If the resolution is passed then it would make sense to join one of the other Auckland Cycling Clubs e.g. Counties Manukau or Auckland Central.
