Term 4 Review

  • Badminton

Had over 70 entries on the day from 4-5 schools. There was a high level of competition and everyone had a good day.

  • Touch:

Busy day – no complaints. Largest tournament to date- 36 teams
8 fields and good numbers. Graham from Massey Touch module help run the day and create the draws. This was much appreciated. Teams liked the fact there were playoff matches for those lower down the pecking order also. Will try next time to not have semi finals and finals back to back, but with such large numbers it was hard to avoid.

  • Athletics:

Back down at the Trusts stadium this year. Numbers were low again and the day went relatively smoothly. Long jump took a while to get through as started at quite a low height. Next year need to stat at AAIMS qualification level to speed up the day.

  • Yr ⅚ Tag:

A good day had by all. However there were consistency in refereeing standards and field size. Caused great confusion on the day. Need to have ARl follow the ranking system so we don’t get blowout scores.

Term 1 preview

  • Tag:

Currently awaiting information to come through from NZTFI. Work along the lines of 8 a side, boys and girls competition. If teams need to be mixed they will be playing in the boys competition. Scott will post the registration link on the google entry sheet as soon as I get it. All other rules will be as per the AAIMS sports guidelines book available to you via the website. At this stage registration cut off is Friday 23/2. The day will take place at Moire Park. Enter sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.

  • Teeball/ softball:

Registration is closing on 23/2 . Taking place on Tuesday 5/3 (teebal) and  Thursday 7/3 (Softball) at Rosedale Park. All schools who enter need to ensure that they have all correct gear as no loan gear. Entries for both Tee Ball and Soft Ball are now online via the google sheet. Have reached out to both Massey and Hobsonville Point High Schools for umpires. Hopefully this works out. If not schools need to have someone with them that is prepared to umpire.

  • Cricket:

Taking place at Huapai domain and run by Charlotte Bolten from Kumeu Cricket. Her contact information is [email protected]. Entry is via the google sheet. Great opportunity for those who do not normally get involved in sport to do so. Schools are more than welcome to enter more than one team.

  • Swimming:

Taking place on 18/3 this year. Will be taking place again back down at West wave. Schools need to provide a volunteer to be a timekeeper etc. Please only send capable swimmers.

  • Tennis:

Same as every other year. Taking place at West Harbour Tennis Club. Children will umpire each other’s matches and need to know how to serve correctly.

  • Orienteering:

If it does go ahead this year it will be taking place down at Moire Park this year. Taking place earlier this year due to a lack of resources from the Orienteering clubs end. Entry will open via the google doc shortly. Orienteering day is now taking place on 28/3.
