Term 2 Review:

·    Football- Girls football date/ Interzone football

Well run day and students all seemed to enjoy themselves. Draw consisted of large pools and teams didn’t play each other once. Sometimes teams even played against each other 2 X. moving forward we would like smaller pools with teams playing each other once. Having both boys and girls on the same day meant a busy day. Do we go back to separate days?

·    Table Tennis

No one available to discuss this day.

·    Yr 5/6 Football

Anotehr great day up at Huapai domain. Similar issues re the draw as the yr 7/8 day. Need to sit down with West Coast rangers and address our concerns re draws.

·    Basketball

Another well run day at the Trusts Arena. Liston college and Waitakere College did a great job refereeing. They would like to have more of a presence at our sports days. This could benefit us as they could provide more referees on a consistent basis.

·    Hockey-

Had a few issues with schools withdrawing once the draw had been completed. One even did so on the day. 7 a side works well, No goalie gear required unless you make it to the Auckland Champs. Facilities were awesome.

-

-   yr ⅞ Netball

-   Issues with the yr 8 Boys draw due to schools withdraing late in the piece. Great day had by all. Students from all schools were amazing and polite. Played playoff knockout games this year. However will look at dropping these for next year due to the pressure and time constraints.

Term 3 Preview:

         -       yr ⅚ Netball

Draw is now on website. Currently have 16 yr 6 girls teams and big growth in the boys division. Playing as a social and competitive comp. We have some umpires from Massey High, however you may need to bring your own. We will be playing 7 a side

-            Cross Country

All ready to go for the 17/7 out at Muriwai. No St Johns available this year. Students with medical needs are to wear a yellow band on their wrist with the teacher in charge of their school’s phone number in case of emergency. Please ensure you only enter those who can run and complete the whole course. Please have a teacher with you school students as well as an adult who can help out on the course. Currently lots of flooding at Muriwai. If travelling by bus please be aware it is a tight fit using the alternative route to get down to the beach (tight corners etc). We will walk the track at 10am.

-            Volleyball

Taking place at the trusts again this year. Limited by court size so can only take 12 x boys teams and 12 x girls teams. Please enter sooner rather than later. Info will be available shortly.

Entry form via the google doc that is accessible through the website. Entry is now open to all sport events.

Principals report:

·   The principals are appreciative of the job we do and the professionalism in which we all approach it with. Keep up the great work.

General Business:

-   Interzone organisers please claim for every expense- including relievers, food for umpires etc

-   Student exemptions- These are to be granted at the tournament organisers discretion.

-   Tournaments moving forward

Group discussed how we can ensure we run successful tournaments while at the same time not limiting numbers. We are a zone of over 20 schools and why should some miss out due to facility size. Discussed the possibility of running separate days for major tournaments. E.g. Basketball, Football. Scott to discuss with Principals and will report back next term.
