NZ Secondary Schools (NZSS) National Dragon Boat Championships Wrap-up

We’re thrilled to share the results from the NZSS National Championships which were held earlier this year in Wellington alongside the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival.

Earlier this year, 27 schools joined the action: 24 from Wellington, and 1 each from Masterton, Auckland, and Christchurch. Teams competed across divisions, with the breakdown as follows:

  •  4 Boys Teams
  •  8 Mixed Teams
  • 15 Girls Teams

The NZSS Nationals is raced in conjunction with the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival - Youth Competition. This annual event focuses on giving our Dragon Boating rangatahi the chance to paddle, compete, and most importantly … have lots of fun.

Medals were awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placing teams in each division for National titles, along with Wellington Youth titles for Wellington based teams. Nga mihi whakanuia – huge congratulations to all teams that medalled in their respective divisions, and also to all of our young people who took part in the racing, bringing their wonderful energy and enthusiasm to the day!
