F Troop
November 12-17 2023

A fantastic F Troop this year organised by Brian Hobson and Graham Aitken.  Meeting at Kaiapoi and riding to Lake Tekapo and then on to Cromwell where we had five nights with ride outs every day.  The curling at Naseby a highlight.  Karting, Puzzling World and the Luge brilliantly organised activities.  No trip down the goldmine though.  Maybe Bill will organise one next year.

Some of the finest New Zealand scenery on display the highlight (for me at least) was the ride to Glenorchy where we had Lake Hawea on the right followed by Lake Wanaka on the left.  Truly memorable.

The sherrif (Al Campbell) was on duty all week and fines were given for all sorts of misdemeanours!  It was all good fun and F Troop participants were generous in their contributions as all proceeds went to a charity for the canine diagnosis of cancer.  A wonderful organisation.

The only downside was the dreaded Covid that affected nine of the party who had to drop out and isolate.  The situation was carefully and sympathetically managed by the committee and co-opted Chris Campbell.

Great trip.  Here's to next year.
