  • Is a registered Branch Dojo (Shibu) of Honbu Dojo.
  • O'Sensei Takahashi Kensu Soke - Judan 10th Dan, (1900- 1994)  龍の創設者 - 九段.
  • Founded our traditional art in 1953 – Japan.

​​​​​​​Our traditional Dojo shares the classic martial art, of traditional Shuri te  琉球シュリテ  under the guidance and  lineage of O'Connor Hanshi, who is the licensed Principal Instructor, after the death of Osensei Takahashi - Hanshi in 1994 and Ito Ichiro Shihan - Hachidan 8th Dan (1947 - 2006)  第八段マスター.

  • Okinawa Karate was born, when Okinawa was a tiny island kingdom called "Ryukyu." It was created for attack and self-defense for high ranked people such as Ryukyu Bushi (warrior). This respectable culture of Okinawa was succeeded by many great Karate masters and now it’s one of the most important Okinawan cultures.

  • Taylor Martinovich Sensei, registered and appointed the New Zealand Association representative in 2019, holding in trust the position of Dojo Cho 道場合同 (branch dojo instuctor).
  • Jessica Dalton Sensei - Dojo Shodan, graded at Honbu Dojo 2023.
  • This appointment was issued by: O'Connor Hanshi - Honbu Dojo.

  • All Dan Grades - Yudansha (Black Belt) ranks, are only issued and certified from Honbu Dojo - Head quarters, after the Individual Karate - Ka (practioner) has completed and passed the Yudansha - Kai Grading Examination requirements, at Honbu Dojo.


  • All continued Dan grades have full international registration, for past Dan grades who are not training their registration has been cancelled.

  • We are honoured that all students, who achieve their traditional Karate Do grades within our dojo, are also registered and receive a traditional grading Menjo - Certificate from Honbu Dojo.
