We hold our club night on Monday evenings at the Paraparaumu Domain throughout the summer season (early October until late March).
At the beginning of each season we run two 'give it a go' nights, so that new athletes can come and try out athletics before committing to register with the club
Once the season starts, athletes participating in club nights must be registered with the club and athletes 7 years and over should wear the club singlet. Singlets are available for purchase at club nights along with other merchandise
Bring warm clothes, sports shoes and a drink of water (and make sure you remember to take it all with you when you leave at the end of the night!). Spiked running shoes may be worn by grade 10 year olds and upwards
3 - 6 years
5.15pm - 6.00pm - We have a beginners group for 3-6 year olds where we run the Athletics NZ Get Set Go programme. This involves heaps of fun, developmentally-appropriate activities, that build children’s basic fundamental movement skills.
A range of activities are set up each club night that the children rotate around. Parents can either move around the activities with their kids, or volunteer to help run a station. Get Set Go is a fantastic introduction to athletics for this age group.
Parent involvement is essential in this age group
5.30pm - 7.00pm - We run four different track and field events each club night for our 7 year old plus athletes, incorporating training on the go. The programme changes each week providing a mix of running, jumping and throwing events (see programmes to right).
Throughout the season results are recorded for all registered athletes and collected as part of the club competition. Athletes can work to improve their times and distances across the season which is a great motivational tool
The age grade your athlete will compete in is based on their age as at 31 December of the year that season commences.
For the 2023/2024 season you can see what grade your child is in based on their year of birth in the table below:
2017 and later
Our club tuck shop will be open each Monday night, with food and drinks available to purchase (eftpos is available). All proceeds from the tuck shop go directly back into the club to purchase athletics equipment.
If it is too wet or cold we will cancel club night. It will be posted on our Facebook page, on this website and we will email members
At the end of the season we hold a social prize giving. Cups are awarded for excellence in individual events and sportsmanship
The success of our club relies on parent/family assistance. We would love to see as many parents as possible joining in and helping out. This could be assisting with timing, measuring or recording at events, popping your name on the tuck shop roster, or helping with set-up or pack-down. Every little bit helps
Please remember everyone involved with the club, from our dedicated coaches to our committee members are volunteers, and we need your help too!
