Welcome, Kia Ora

Racewalking Auckland (RWA) aims to promote the sport of racewalking in the greater Auckland area.  Join us for competition, for fitness, health and fun.
Our membership comprises NZ Olympic and Commonwealth Games representatives, (including Alana Barber, Silver Medalist from the Commonwealth Games in 2018) -  A Grade Race walkers, and B Grade walkers, covering a range of walking speeds.  From this site, you can find information about racewalking, find contacts for Racewalking Auckland and pick up the latest racewalking news from Auckland and further afield.

Racewalking Auckland also enters teams in relay events where possible.

Through Racewalking Auckland, you can learn the basic technique at the regular Sunday morning events. We normally have races every second week starting at 8:30am, and on alternate Sundays stage a training walk starting at 9:30am which includes coaching.   We have numerous racewalkers with many years experience who are more than happy to help you with your technique.  Please see our feature   Racewalk 101 article along with other items on our Articles  page for information on technique and rules.

Members will receive updates  on race results and details of coming events - both those organised by Racewalking Auckland, along with a variety of other events; some organised by other clubs around the country, and fun run/walks.

There is an event on every Sunday.  Venues used include the Eastern Beach road, starting from the reserve, Yvette Williams track at Pakuranga, the Auckland Domain starting from the Grandstand, the Southern Path near the Southern motorway starting near the Melba Cafe in Karaka, the Lovelock Track at Owairaka, off Sandringham Road,  Mt Smart Stadium,  Onehunga Foreshore, See here for directions to some of our regular venues.
We have a range of events from ‘first past the post’ to handicaps and estimated time walks (closest to their estimate wins).  This enables both faster and slower walkers the chance to win trophies and prizes.

Members also participate in other national walking events .    Please see our Results pages for who has been doing what.

So please come along and try us out.  We’re a friendly bunch and welcome new and former members of every age any time.  Please see our RWA Info  page for all enquiries and membership information.
