Cancellation Due to Weather or Force Majeure
In the event that an event must be cancelled due to weather conditions or other circumstances beyond the control of the Taumarunui Youth and Community Trust (including safety concerns or venue closures), the event entry fee will remain payable.
This reflects costs already incurred in planning, coordination, equipment preparation, venue bookings, and staffing.
The Taumarunui Youth and Community Trust offers our community sports and activities. The event manager can remove a team or person from the competition for any breach of the rules. Rules must be adhered to if you enter the competition.
"POSITIVE VIBES ONLY"
By registering for a TYCT event, schools agree to follow the event rules, guidelines, and expectations set by TYCT.
2. Entry Confirmation
A school’s entry is confirmed once registration has been submitted through the official TYCT registration process. By registering, schools acknowledge they have read and accepted these terms and conditions.
3. Event Cancellation – Weather or Unforeseen Circumstances
TYCT may cancel or postpone an event if weather conditions, safety concerns, or circumstances beyond our control make the event unsafe or impractical to run.
In the event of cancellation, entry fees may still be charged to participating schools where costs have already been incurred due to circumstances outside of TYCT’s control (e.g., weather). This reflects costs already incurred in planning and preparing the event, including:
TYCT will always aim to notify schools as early as possible if cancellation becomes necessary.
4. School Withdrawal or Non-Attendance
If a school withdraws from an event within 48 hours of the scheduled event or fails to attend after registering, TYCT reserves the right to invoice the school for the event entry fee.
This ensures fairness to event organisers and other participating schools.
5. Communication Protocol
All event enquiries, concerns, or feedback must be communicated through the designated school representative or school leadership.
Parents and spectators should direct any event-related questions or concerns through their school contact person, who will liaise with TYCT if required.
Direct complaints or negative commentary on social media about event organisation is strongly discouraged and does not support constructive resolution.
6. Sideline Behaviour and Respect
TYCT promotes a Positive Vibes Only approach to youth sport.
All participants, coaches, parents, and spectators are expected to demonstrate respectful behaviour toward:
TYCT reserves the right to remove individuals from an event whose behaviour is disrespectful, abusive, or brings the event into disrepute.
7. Social Media Conduct
Participants, parents, and supporters are expected to engage respectfully when discussing TYCT events online.
Posts or comments that are abusive, defamatory, or damaging toward TYCT, its volunteers, or participants may result in individuals being restricted from attending future TYCT events.
8. Supervision of Students
Schools remain responsible for the supervision and behaviour of their students during TYCT events. Teachers or designated school supervisors must remain present with their students for the duration of the event.
9. Health and Safety
TYCT will take all reasonable steps to provide a safe event environment. Schools acknowledge that participation in sport involves inherent risks and agree to ensure students are medically fit to participate.
10. Agreement to Terms
By submitting registration for a TYCT event, the school confirms that they:
✔ Have read and understood these Terms & Conditions
✔ Agree to follow TYCT event expectations
✔ Accept the event cancellation and entry fee policy
11. Media, Photography & Video Footage
To ensure the privacy and safety of participants and the integrity of event operations, only authorised Taumarunui Youth and Community Trust (TYCT) personnel or approved event media representatives are permitted to capture official photographs or video footage during the event as per school registration.
Authorised images and video may be used by TYCT for:
Parents and spectators may take photos or videos for personal use only; however:
Any footage or images taken by spectators are not considered official event records. Such footage cannot be used to challenge event results, decisions, or officiating, and TYCT will not review or consider spectator-recorded footage when making event decisions.
To maintain a respectful and positive environment for all participants:
All official decisions made by referees, officials, or event organisers remain final and will not be reviewed using spectator-recorded footage.

Kia ora and welcome to 2026!
We’re excited for another fun-filled year of Interschool Activities, and we look forward to working with you all.
We are fortunate to have Hutia Edwards returning as the Lead iSports Coordinator for the Internship students. Amy will continue in her role as Event Manager for all Interschool Activities, keeping schools updated on upcoming events. Please ensure we have the correct contact details for your school to receive all event communications. Remember, all necessary event information can be found on the TYCT website.
TYCT has once again partnered with Taumarunui High School and Te Kura Kaupapa o Taumarunui to implement the iSports Internship Programme. Students apply, go through an interview process, and are selected to be part of the internship. Over the year, they are upskilled and trained to support TYCT’s Interschool Activities. This partnership has been a significant breakthrough, making event management smoother while giving students an opportunity to develop leadership skills and contribute to their community.
All communication for Interschool Activities is to come through TYCT directly to admin@taumarunui-yct.com.
We’re looking forward to another fantastic year together!
