About Us

The Taumarunui Amateur Athletics Club (TAAC) has been proudly affiliated with the Taumarunui Youth and Community Trust since 2016.

TAAC has a rich history of resilience and community spirit. After a period of dwindling membership and equipment shortages threatened the club’s future, dedicated parents and supporters came together in 2012 to breathe new life into athletics in Taumarunui. Their efforts paid off—within just two weeks, the revitalised club attracted 120 members.

From 2012 to 2014, TAAC operated out of Taumarunui High School. In 2015, we were granted permission by the local council to move our athletics programme to the Taumarunui Domain, providing a permanent home for our athletes.

Our programme has grown to include a triathlon component, held at the start of each year, adding variety and new challenges for our members.

TAAC’s mission is to nurture the athletic talent in our community. With so much raw potential in Taumarunui, we are proud to support our local kids as they develop their skills, confidence, and passion for sport.
