"Helping people reach their potential"
Taumarunui Silverback Boxing Academy
It’s not about the fighting, it’s about respect, learning to work together and looking after each other.
Since opening our doors in November 2015, the Taumarunui Silverback Boxing Academy (TSBA) has been at the heart of our community, using the sport of boxing as a powerful tool for change. In February 2016, we expanded to a larger venue to meet the growing interest and accommodate more young people eager to join our kaupapa.
At TSBA, boxing is more than just a sport—it’s a way to foster values that shape strong individuals and a stronger community. For our tamariki and rangatahi, stepping into the ring isn’t about fighting; it’s about learning respect, teamwork, and the importance of looking after one another. We believe in creating a safe and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
Our mission is to nurture positive attitudes and values, particularly among at-risk youth, and contribute to making Taumarunui a more vibrant and positive place. By mentoring young people through the discipline of boxing, we empower them to build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
We also have a vision to foster future Taumarunui boxing stars. Our community is rich with raw talent and natural ability, and we’re committed to providing pathways for our local kids to shine. At TSBA, we celebrate their potential and support them every step of the way.
Whether you're here to support, learn, or join our whānau, welcome to TSBA—a place where respect, growth, and community come first.
We welcome individuals from all walks of life to become part of the TSBA journey. Whether you're looking to box competitively, get fit, or be part of a supportive community, there's a place for you here.
Come visit us and experience the spirit of the Taumarunui Silverback Boxing Academy for yourself. Together, we’re not just building boxers—we’re building a stronger, brighter future for our community.
