Ranking Process for Finals
To ensure a fair system across all pools, the following ranking process has been used to determine final placings and progression to the semifinals.
Pool Winners: The top team in each pool automatically qualifies and is ranked based on their results.
Adjusting for Different Pool Sizes: Some pools contained 4 teams while others contained 5 teams. To ensure fairness, teams in the 4-team pools (who played 3 games) have had their results averaged and projected as if they had played 4 games. This projection is based on their points for and points against across the 3 games they played, allowing their performance to be compared fairly with teams that played 4 games in the larger pools.
Wildcard Qualification: The next best team across all pools is selected as a wildcard. This is determined by comparing teams using their average points differential (points for minus points against) per game, ensuring teams from different pool sizes can be compared fairly.
Remaining Rankings: All remaining teams are then ranked in order based on their averaged points differential. This method allows teams to be ranked as fairly as possible across all pools.
This approach ensures the rankings recognise strong performances while allowing the best teams across all pools to progress.

DEFAULTS:
Teams that do not play a game and win by default shall receive their four (4) points. The opposition (defaulting team) will receive zero (0) points against.
For that defaulted game, an average of goal points for and against shall be calculated and awarded at the end of that round. This is calculated by dividing the number of games played into the total goal points scored and conceded by that team for that round.
