South Island Colgate Games 2026

Date:  Friday, 14th January - Sunday 18th January 2026
Venue: Saxon Athletics Arena, 2026

The Colgate Games are the pinnacle of children's athletics.  This competition has been running for the past 20 years and is the biggest single children's athletic event in New Zealand.  The event caters for children aged 7 to 14 years of age inclusive, in a range of track and field events. Any child can enter the Colgate Games, as long as they are registered with a local athletics club. There are no qualifying standards.

They may compete in up to five events in their age group, plus relays.
7 - 9 years: 60m, 100m, 200m, Discus, Shot Put and Long Jump.
10 - 14 years: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, Walks, Discus, Shot Put, Long Jump, High Jump
12 -14 years can also compete in the Hurdles.

    Uniform

    All athletes must wear the Te Awamutu Club Singlet and plain black shorts. 

    Any visible garment worn under the uniform must be black, white or the dominant colour of the uniform. The only visible writing allowable is the manufacturer’s branding. No franchise shorts are allowed. 

    Age Flashes are removed for this event as athletes are supplied with an event number specifically for this event.  The Age Flash will need to be sewn back on after this.
