Ribbon Days

Ribbon Days start Saturday, November 8, and feature open competition for all athletes up to Grade 14, (plus U16 athletes). There’s no entry fee and all events use divisional formats—no finals. If a Saturday is rained out, events can be run on Sunday. Contact the host club for details about each event and arrive by 10:00 am. Athletes must wear full uniform with Age Flash sewn on their singlet.

Event Structure & Participation

  • Ribbon Days let athletes and families compete against other clubs in the Waikato region.

  • All events start at 10am and usually end around 2pm, but finish time may vary depending on attendance numbers.

  • Any athlete in the top 3 of an event receives a ribbon, and every child gets the opportunity to win at least one ribbon.

  • U16 athletes are also eligible to compete at Ribbon Days.

Family Involvement

  • Parents often help run events, taking turns so all get a chance to watch their children compete.

  • Ask Te Awamutu Club Committee members which event requires help and volunteer even briefly if possible—this support is highly appreciated.

What to Bring

  • Pack a picnic lunch and bring extra athletes for a fun day out.

  • Ensure all athletes wear the correct uniform, including an Age Flash on their singlet.

Contact & Updates

  • For schedule changes or weather cancellations, check the host club’s website or Facebook page.

  • Direct club-specific questions to the contact listed for each Ribbon Day.

Ribbon Days are designed to be an enjoyable event for the whole family, focused on community, participation, and friendly competition.
