This is a mini Olympics style event complete with march past and opening ceremony. The Colgate Games have been on the NZ Children's Athletics calendar for over 40 years, taking place every January in both the North and South Islands.They are generally held at a different venue at each year attracting close to 1000 competitors.
Athletes compete in a maximum of 5 individual events over three days. Grades 7 to 9 years compete in straight finals and receive pennants for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Grades 10 and upwards run heats, semi’s and finals and compete for medals, Gold, Silver, Bronze. There are also 4 x 100m, and medley relays.
