OUR HISTORY
The Metro Mount Albert Sports Club evolved out of the Metro College Sports Club on the 9th of December 1955. At the same time, the Metro Football was renamed under the Metro Mt Albert Sports Club, having originally been The Tabernacle-Metropolitan Club since the late 1800s.

Cricket was played for a season at Metro's homeground of Phyllis Reserve, before the guys in white decided to take up residence at a larger park. Later in the decade, Metro footballers Neil Bricknell and Arthur Brear decided to bring the popular sport of softball into the sports club. After gathering together enough players for a team, pulling in mates and those from another club, their wives ran up a strip in time to register for the 1957/1958 season.

Today, both codes (Metro Football Club and Metro Mt. Albert Softball Club) continue to work under the umbrella of The Metro Mount Albert Sports Club, and share the facilities at Phylls Reserve. In 2019, the park underwent a partial renovation, with a new hybrid turf football field and astroturf softball diamond erected on the top of the park. Further development of the club, including rejuvenation and extension of the lower fields and car park, are expected to begin July 2021, with clubrooms to follow.
