ABOUT METRO FOOTBALL
Metro Football Club was originally named Tabernacle-Metropolitan Club by its founder the Baptist Church. The club, established in 1899, is one of the oldest in NZ; the oldest club in NZ being North Shore United formed in 1886.
Metro FC has been based at Phyllis Reserve, in Mount Albert, since 1950. The club celebrated its centenary in 1999, a very proud moment for such a historic club in NZ, with the club's success being attributed not only to the senior teams over the last 120 years but also the junior/youth players and their parents who are "the backbone, the key factor that has helped the club through the good times and bad since 1899".
The club boasts over 40 junior teams and a growing senior membership.
The top men's team play NRFL Division One while the club's top women's side plays AFF Women's Conference 2.
